The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. Darren and Annie still enjoy each other’s company and laugh at each other’s jokes, but, unfortunately, they can’t remember the last time they had sex. When a dinner party conversation leads to an honest discussion about the state of their love life, and when a sexy bikini photo shoot leads to crossword puzzles instead of sex, they begin to flirt with a way to spice things up. The deal: one night of freedom, no strings attached, no questions asked. Could a freebie be the cure for their ailing sex life? And will they go through with it? With a keen eye and fresh take, Aselton’s directorial debut shines with crisp storytelling and fine-tuned performances. 这部音乐剧不仅做到了令人难忘的音乐效果，亦在幽默的基础上增添了人性的光辉。

善意与人性在危难时刻的闪光。哪个文化都有自己的阴暗面，可是最重要的是当人类超越割裂彼此之间的标签与符号，而仅仅是作为个体去尊重与交流的时刻，这样的可能性在今天的世界还存在吗？
这才是纪念 911 的最好选材方式，受灾的是平民，也讲平民叙事。世界以痛吻我，我却报之以歌。哪里有黑暗哪里就有光明，哪里有悲伤哪里就有快乐。受限于戏剧的形式很多地方还是要做过多解释，稍显拖沓，改编成电影一定会更好的。
